Mumbai: A 32-year-old tailor was killed in a hit-and-run in Jogeshwari West after being hit by an unknown autorickshaw driver. Amboli police have registered a case and are looking for the auto driver.The crash occurred late on July 26 when Ramzan Shaikh, the victim, was walking near Farooq High School in Jogeshwari. A delivery boy, Akram Patel, witnessed the crash around 11.45 pm. He saw the auto driver fleeing from the location without extending any medical aid to Shaikh or taking him to a doctor. Shaikh was rushed to the Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari. Hospital staff informed his brother, Arif, about the crash. Shaikh suffered serious injuries.Arif called their uncle Zahir, also a tailor, with whom Shaikh used to live and assist at work. Zahir rushed to the hospital, but his nephew succumbed to his injuries around 6.30 pm. Zahir made inquiries at the hospital and got contact information for Patel, who told him how the crash occurred.Subsequently, Zahir’s statement was recorded by the police, and an FIR for rash driving and negligence was registered.
