Palghar’s rain-hit residents to get Rs 39.86 crore aid from Maharashtra govt

Palghar: State govt has sanctioned Rs 39.86 crore in financial assistance for families, shopkeepers and stall owners affected by heavy rain and flooding in Palghar in July. The district administration has started distributing the relief, with Rs 22.77 crore already reaching 15,190 beneficiaries.Heavy rain in Palghar in July had caused extensive financial losses to residents, following which state govt announced a special relief package. Under the family assistance category, Rs 22.77 crore has so far been distributed among 15,190 beneficiaries.Dahanu has received the highest share, with 5,321 beneficiaries getting Rs 7.98 crore, followed by Vasai, where 5,000 beneficiaries have received Rs 7.50 crore. Assistance to another 7,707 affected beneficiaries is yet to be disbursed, and the process is underway.Of the Rs 9.99 crore sanctioned for shopkeepers and stall owners, Rs 35.95 lakh has been allocated to Palghar, Rs 1.30 crore to Dahanu, Rs 5.50 lakh to Talasari and Rs 5.025 crore to Vasai. Verification of eligible beneficiaries and disbursement of the assistance are currently underway.
