Bhayandar: A private security guard attached to BJP MLA Narendra Mehta has been booked for allegedly abusing and intimidating nurses and hospital staff at Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Government Hospital in Bhayandar, triggering a brief protest by healthcare workers.The incident took place on Thursday morning when the guard, identified as Arvind Ranjani, visited the hospital after a dog bit him.According to hospital staff, he was asked to complete the required formalities by moving between different departments. An argument reportedly broke out during the process, following which Ranjani allegedly abused and threatened nurses and other hospital staff.Agitated over the incident, the nurses and hospital staff briefly suspended work and went to Bhayandar police station to lodge a complaint.Bhayandar police registered an FIR against Ranjani for allegedly using abusive language and misbehaving with hospital staff.Ranjani, however, denied the allegations, claiming he did not abuse anyone and that the dispute erupted after a hospital security guard behaved rudely with him.Commenting on the incident, MLA Narendra Mehta condemned the alleged misconduct, saying doctors and nurses engaged in essential services must be treated with respect. He added that Ranjani had been dismissed from his job with immediate effect.
