Man steals 50 umbrellas displayed outside store in Mumbai, arrested | Mumbai News
Mumbai: To earn a quick buck, a 20-year-old man, who had recently moved to Mumbai, stole a box of 50 umbrellas displayed outside a store at Charkop, with his friend’s help. In 10 days, police apprehended him and recovered all the stolen umbrellas worth a total Rs 15,000.The incident occurred on July 16 at a store in Charkop market in sector no. 5. The store owner had displayed 50 umbrellas outside the establishment for sale. The next day, he couldn’t locate them and approached the police. An FIR was registered.Police teams, headed by senior inspector Mahesh Balwantrao, checked footage from surveillance cameras and tracked down the accused, identified only as Santosh, and arrested him. Police claimed that Santosh Adidravar, a Charkop resident, and his friend Solomon went to Charkop market on a motorcycle and stole the umbrellas.Adidravar does not have a prior crime record. He was produced before a magistrate’s court and remanded into police custody till July 30.
