2 held from Chhatisgarh in Rs 94 lakh cheating case

Mumbai: Two men were arrested from Raipur in Chhattisgarh by a Vanrai Police team in connection with a case of cheating a logistics firm to the tune of Rs 94 lakh. Police said the accused were on the run for the past year. More arrests are likely.Last year, the vice-president of a logistics firm registered a police complaint. The complaint was lodged against the firm’s zonal head for conniving with the owner of an online transport company and three owners of a shipping company to cheat the complainant’s logistics firm of Rs 94 lakh. The accused created fake receipts, bogus stamps and fake e-way bills to show that goods were being transported when in reality nothing was transported.The police team learnt that some of the accused were holed up in Raipur. Vanrai police travelled to Chhattisgarh and tracked down two of the accused from New Raipur after a chase. On Aug 6, they were arrested and brought to Mumbai.
