Nalasopara Police seize cocaine worth Rs 38 lakh, arrest Nigerian national
Nalasopara: Police seized 73 gram of cocaine worth Rs 38 lakh and arrested a Nigerian national during a combing operation conducted in Nalasopara East on Saturday night.The operation was carried out in the Pragati Nagar area under the leadership of Zone II deputy commissioner of police Ashok Virkar. Police formed 10 teams and conducted searches at several locations in the area, including residences of suspected drug peddlers.During the operation, police searched a building in Pragati Nagar and allegedly found 73 grams of cocaine in the possession of a Nigerian national residing in Basera building. The accused was arrested and booked under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police are now investigating the source of the cocaine and the accused’s links with other members of the suspected drug network.Police said the combing operation was conducted as part of efforts to curb drug-related activities in the area. Pragati Nagar and Moregaon areas have a sizeable population of Nigerian nationals, and police have been keeping a close watch on suspected drug-related activities in the locality.The latest seizure comes a month after police seized drugs worth around Rs 5 crore in two separate operations in Pragati Nagar.
