Vasai: The Palghar district administration has suspended an assistant electoral registration officer after finding that he failed to perform duties assigned under the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.Gopal Chaudhary, group education officer at the Vasai Panchayat Samiti, allegedly failed to participate in the time-bound revision exercise despite being assigned the responsibility.Taking serious note of the lapse, the Palghar district collector and district election officer directed the Zilla Parishad CEO to suspend him. The administration warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against officials found negligent in election-related duties.
